Featured in the likes of Art Daily, FAD, Ekphriasis and Frieze publications, and also selected as a favorite by artist Kate Cooper, ‘Un-Boxing’, was a digital work made in collaboration between Ellie Towers & Reece Griffiths which utilized the interactivity of an online platform during lockdown - existing as a multi-componential faux-game experience.

With a combinative structure of re-imagined exhibition scenes, magical-realist reviews, 360° spaces, and 3D renderings of fictional monuments, the narrative utilized a treasure-hunt-style format and icons and characters as navigational tools.

Using the ‘home’ and all it’s connotations as a foundation, the viewer was invited to explore a map found inside a 3D box, leading to a variety of different spaces including a house that reflects the landscape outside of its walls, a person urinating out of a bedroom window, and a story about a families canine rituals inside of a greenhouse. This work in its entirety was featured as part of LJMU’s ‘Degree Show on Mars,’ which had selectors such as Hans Ulrich Obrist, Miranda Sawyer and Helen Legg.
